Up & Awake

Forward

Alright, feeling a bit more productive today. I blame the couch, its a trap. So I have a updated edited version of yesterday days WOTDS. <.< I should probably update the WOTDS Guide while I am thinking about it. Heh... I also ended up combine today's WOTDS with yesterdays, because when I was looking at todays words I couldn't help but picture this untitled story, which I should name, but I can't think of anything yet, but anyways I could help but think how well those words fit in. So in the edit, I added the words where they fit.

Everyone goes through a bit a slump, that was the last few weeks, which coupled with some holidays, and computer issues, but it seems I am feeling more inspired again and I have and open source word processor now, because I can't find my Microsoft word disc. >.< I miss word, and I also still miss Photoshop, gimp isn't bad, but its not Photoshop. I can't wait to one day have money to use those programs again. But now I should get back to working on my stories and hopefully soon I can work more on Dreaming Reality for the WOTDS instead of random stories, but oh well, writing is writing and I slacked off, but that needs to stop.

So here it todays WOTDS:

Maddi grinned at the view below her. The wind was whipping her long auburn hair wildly behind her, which was barely contained in a blue ribbon, and she could feel the tug on the buttons of her long jacket as it fluttered out behind her. She felt a different rustle in her coat and looked down as Vinz, poked his head out from the inside pocket, gripping the collar as he pulled himself up. He blinked his large eyes a few times and then small black bat, yawned.

“Are we there yet?” He asked barely audible in mid-yawn and the wind, but Maddi was used to it and just shook her head in responds. At the speed she was flying, she wasn't going to open her mouth. The last time she did, several fly's and a bee, went down her throat. That stung, no pun intended, but it did.

Vinz carefully pulled himself out of her pocket, down her front, and gripping the broom handle with his little claws, he looked around at the ground below.

Tree after tree after tree top, glimmered up faintly through a layer of fog and the moon light the night sky, making it a perfect night for a broom ride.

“There!” Vinz suddenly shouted, pointing off the the left.

Maddi turned without thought to where he pointed, to a barely visible gap in the trees. A little less then gracefully, her feet touched the ground and she jumped off the broom. With a wave of her hand the broom shrunk, and hopped into the large pocket on the left side of her coat. Vinz was on her shoulder, eagerly staring at the run down stone building before them.

The cobblestone roof was cracked and several stones lay where they slide off. The wooden intricate carve door was the only part that looked almost new. The single widow was shattered and glass littered the windowsill.

“Lets go. Lets go!” Vinz cried, growing inpatient, practically bouncing on her shoulder.

“Goodness, you can be such a child sometimes, a few minutes isn't going to kill you. I just want to make sure its safe.” She muttered a few spells under her breath, hands out in front of her with a faint glow to them. After several minutes, she lowered her hands.

“See, there was a very strong malicious spell on this building. If you had just flown in there recklessly, the would have had a very poisonous pneumatic released, and you'd be dead. “ She looked at the door nervously.

“Pneumatic, that was the word of the day, wasn't it?” Vinz asked with a shake of his head.

Maddie grinned sheepishly, “Maybe.”

“Is it safe now?”

She looked back the door nervously. “It should be.”

“Well, I trust in you abilities. Lets go.”

She took a deep breath and nodded, bracing herself she walked forward and reached out for the door handle. Then jiggled it several times, she mentally face palmed.

“You checked for curses, and you forgot to check the lock didn't you?”

She giggled nervously, “Heh, perhaps.” Taking a step back and with a flick of her wrist, the lock clicked and she grinned. “All is good.” She reached for the handle again.

“Are you sure you got everything?”

“Yup, 98.9%” Before Vinz could say anything more, she threw open the door and stepped in, after a moment she let out the breath she was holding. “See, you can keep your trust in me.”

“Maybe if I was crazy.”

Maddie gave him a mock pout, knowing he was joking, then started for the stairs that led downstairs, it was the only option in the small dusty room. Though she couldn't shake the ominous feeling, it was dark and gloomy, and felt forgotten. It make her nervous and she mutter under her breath, a small ball of light hoovered in front of her, bobbing gently up and down as they walked down the steep spiral stone stairs.

“Look, that’s it!” Vinz shouted excitedly, leaping of her shoulder and flying the rest of the way, landing next to the tome. “Its here! Its here! Its here!” He bounced, flying up and circling the book a few times and landed again.

“I see it.” Maddi grinned, bouncing down the last few steps, and standing before it. The lone book in the middle of the small room, on a white marble pedestal. She leaned down, taking a deep breath and blew some of the dust off, which happened to be where Vinz was standing.

“Hey” He coughed, flapping his wings to keep the dust away and back at Maddi.

“Hey, yourself.” She coughed a few times, before returning her attention back to the book. “I can't believe we actually found it.” She ran her hand over the cover, the title confirmed it, her inquisitive side wanted to open it now and read it all, so much to learn, but her cautious side won out.

“I knew you could. Now you can break this curse on me.” He flew up and landed on her shoulder, nuzzling against her head.

“Yup.” She paused looking around, and picked up the book. “I think we should take it back home, I don't trust this place.” She waved a hand over the book, it shrank and she safely placed it in the inside pocket of her coat.

“Sounds good.” Vinz nodded and dived in after it, he wasn't going to let it out of his sight, not after a century of looking for it.

Back outside, she pulled out her broom, put it back to its rightful size, she muttered “Volare.” and they were off.

Afterword:

There, I feel better now. Once my laziness wore off, I was appalled I posted a story that I didn't edit. >.<##

Anyways, has anyone else watched Once Upon a Time? I am absolutely loving it. I am not completely caught up, I watched the first 6 episodes late last night, I just need to watch 7 before 8pm tonight, which is when the newest episode airs on ABC. If you like watching fairy tale remakes, then you'll love it. Its kind of like 10th Kingdom, (the awesome mini series, that I absolutely love) where the fair tales all live in a dimension together, shenanigans, an evil queen later our worlds collide, sorta and and they are all inter connected and such. >.< That was a horrible description. Do have so say, I love how our world is considered a horrible place where happy ending don't happen. XD
It has a different plot from 10th kingdom, but if you liked 10th Kingdom, you might like Once Upon a Time. I fail to explain it well. Here is a Link to ABC's page on the show.

Anyways, have a good day. Back to watching SNL, then I need to watch that 7th episode of Once Upon a Time. Here are the side notes:
