Plotted comedy is more often than not, not too funny. As you write a scene let things flow naturally and hopefully the comedy will present itself. <br /><br />If it doesn't don't worry. Concentrate on plot and story. You can always add jokes after the fact during editing, when you have greater insight into the finished story. <br /><br />As for jokes, my rule during editing is that a joke needs to make me smile during 3 read throughs to stay. This helps eliminate the stuff that was funny yesterday but I realize today is actually lame. If its still good after that many reads, then chances are its a keeper.
